OUR TAKE: THESE DAYS IT ISN'T ALWAYS EASY TO FIND A TRAIL IN THE EASTERN SIERRAS THAT ISN'T CROWDED WITH HOARDS OF TRUCKS. BUT SAND CANYON OFFERS JUST THAT. SOME PEACE, QUIET, AND DIRT. THE LOWER PART OF THE TRAIL IS ESPECIALLY BEAUTIFUL DURING THE FALL WHEN THE LEAVES CHANGE COLORS. SADLY, THERE WAS A FIRE IN THE AREA IN RECENT YEARS AND PORTIONS OF THE TRAIL ARE SURROUNDED BY LAND WITH BURN SCARS AND CHARRED, DEAD TREES.
